A sound of hope after 5 long years

After nearly five years of silence, Sarita heard a little again today. One month after her cochlear implant surgery, today she attended her first mapping & therapy session. Doctors & Therapists shared that her response is positive, & Sarita could not hide her smile as she heard sound from her left ear after such a long time. While this is a joyful milestone, her journey continues with regular mapping and therapies especially in very intense manner next 6 months.

Sarita Baniya is a young woman living with complete visual impairment and near-total hearing loss in both ears. Coming from a humble family—where her father, now in his 70s, still pedals a rickshaw to support them—her life has been marked by resilience. Adding to this, four out of six members of her family are also visually impaired.
